What this is
A reading index. Each hotel gets two paragraphs of character — what the building is, what it was before, what a night there actually involves — then the reader is left to the hotel's own front desk.

An index, not a concierge
Fantasy Rink Masters writes up hotels that are unusual in a structural way — not a theme painted on, but a plan, a season or a business that is genuinely different from the one down the road.
Four categories, short rosters, no scores. When a property stops being interesting for the reason it was listed, it comes off the list rather than getting a lower mark — because we do not give marks.

Not a booking agent, not an affiliate storefront, not a review site. No star ratings, no user scores, no price comparisons and no availability. Nothing here is written to persuade anyone to buy anything.
How entries are chosen
By character. A hotel earns a place if it can be described honestly in two paragraphs and those paragraphs would not fit any other hotel. Rosters are reviewed occasionally and rewritten rather than padded.
Geography
The index is deliberately geo-neutral. We are not a guide to any one country and we write from no particular city. The four lists happen to span several of them; that is incidental.
